Both black and green tea are diuretic, helping weight loss associated with water retention.
Black and green tea also help with weight reduction by improving fat metabolism. The polyphenols, strong antioxidants, are responsible for most of the health benefits. The proportion of polyphenols is higher in green tea.
Other health benefits include artery protection, cholesterol reduction and cancer protection.
An antidiarrheal effect can be attributed to a combination of the tannin effect and the fact that doses of 400 mg polyphenols administered three times daily promotes the growth of Lactobacillis and Bifidobacter species (good bacteria) while inhibiting the growth of Clostridium perfringens and Clostridium difficile (bad bacteria).
