4 Ways to Overcome Joint Pain This Fall

Cool weather is coming and we are all looking forward to the football games, bonfires, and pumpkin patch visits! The memories we make with friends and family during this time of year are memories that will stick with us forever! However, if you are suffering from joint pain you may be sadly dreading this time of year because you know the cold weather makes your pain worse. Knowing you want to get out and play with your kids in the leaves could be a daunting task rather than a memorable experience. Here are a few suggestions to make this time of year more fun for you and for your family.


1. Walk! You don't have to do it everyday! Just taking a walk down the road while admiring the color changes on the trees a few times a week is going to do wonders for your pain. It will help to strengthen the muscles around your joints, maintain bone strength, and give you more energy to get through your day.


2. Acupuncture. I know no one likes the idea of needles, but acupuncture aims to correct imbalances of energy in the body. It curbs pain by boosting the amount of endorphins your body makes.


3. Eat Anti-inflammatory foods. It is that time of year where we are all beginning to crave the carbs. Holidays are right around the corner and it's very easy to eat foods that could actually make your pain worse. Check out these foods that with help keep the inflammation down and keep your pain away! 


4. Take a Collagen Supplement! Collagen is a protein that supports our joints, but when we get past our twenties we start to lose it! This decrease in collagen leads to a slower metabolism, weight gain, lower energy levels, digestive problems, and that dreaded joint pain. Our need for collagen protein grows as our bodies become less efficient so we can maintain a healthy body and life.
